PhD Early Career Research Workshop Best Paper Prize

​

The author of the best paper presented at the workshop will be invited to submit a manuscript to the medical sociology specialty of Frontiers in Sociology, and will be awarded with the fee waiver in case the paper is accepted for publication. Full manuscripts should be formatted according to the style of to the journal Frontiers in Sociology (see the guidelines https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/sociology#author-guidelines).

Frontiers in Sociology is a new peer-reviewed open-access journal aimed to foster cross-disciplinary work as well as fairness, transparency, and objectivity in the peer-review process (see the journal website: https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/sociology#).

ESHMS paper prize 2018

​

The ESHMS offers financial support to 1 PhD student or postdoctoral researcher with a maximum of three years of postdoctoral experience (starting from the date of the doctoral dissertation defense) who will present at the Lisbon ESHMS conference 2018.

​

A grant will be awarded for the winner.
Eligibility: all early career scholars as defined above

are welcome to submit a full paper by May 15, 2018.

 

The paper should be submitted electronically to the chair of the ESHMS (sakari.karvonen@thl.fi), with a short biographical note, including affiliation on a separate sheet (max. 250 words). The writer should

indicate in which session the paper is to be presented.

The length of the paper is maximum 8000 words including references. Style should follow the Social Theory and Health instructions (http://www.palgrave-journals.com/sth/author_instructions.html). The language of the article is English.

Criteria for selection: the quality of the paper only.

The winner will be notified before June 6, 2018.

Submission to a special Issue of Social Theory & Health

​

The ESHMS invites all participants to submit their papers for consideration in a special issue of Social Theory & Health, devoted to the 2018 conference in Lisbon.

Guest editors: Sakari Karvonen (National Institute for Health and Welfare (FI) and Tiago Correia (ISCTE-IUL and Chair of Organizing Committee of the 2018 ESHMS conference)

ESHMS poster prize 2018

​

The ESHMS offers financial support to the best poster at the Lisbon ESHMS conference 2018. The winner – single author, or the first author in case of multiple authorship – will be awarded a grant.

​

Eligibility: all participants with accepted posters who are present at the Lisbon ESHMS conference 2018.
An application for the poster prize should be submitted electronically to the chair of ESHMS (sakari.karvonen@thl.fi), including the title of the poster and the names of the authors, a short biographical note including affiliation (of the first author in case of multiple authorship).

The language of the poster is English.

​

Criteria for selection: the quality of the poster only.

​

The winner will be notified at the closing session of the conference on Friday, June 8, 2018.
